Enugu 2023: CP Ammani Assures Political Parties Of Adequate Security

As the build up to the 2023 general elections continues, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, the Enugu Commissioner of Police has assured all political parties in the state of the preparedness of the command to provide adequate security before, during and after the elections.

CP Ammani gave the assurance during an interactive session with leaders of all Political Parties in the State held at the Conference Hall, State Headquarters, Enugu.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, DSP Daniel Ndukwe also quoted CP Ammani to have sought the cooperation and support of the political leaders

“In line with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, psc(+), NPM, fdc, Security Roadmap for a peaceful and hitch-free electioneering and 2023 General Elections, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has held an interactive meeting with leaders of Political Parties in the State. He used the opportunity of meeting, which held at the Conference Hall, State Headquarters, Enugu, to seek the maximum cooperation and support of the Political Parties, as the Command works vigorously to ensure that political activities and the Elections proper are carried out under a peaceful and secured atmosphere in the State.

“CP Ammani, while further reassuring the Party Leaders of the Command’s commitment to provide security for them across the board during the forthcoming campaigns period, charged them to ensure that they give the Police prior notice of their activities to aid appropriate Police actions, in view of curtailing untoward occurrences. He reminded them that politics is never a do-or-die affair; hence they should eschew all forms of political bitterness and rancour, as well as desist from acts capable of breaching public peace,” the statement reads in part.

In their reaction; “The Party leaders thanked and applauded the Commissioner’s foresight in convening the meeting and assured him of their commitment to adhere to extant laws governing Political Parties’ activities before, during and after the General Elections proper. They however, requested for a level playing ground to allow all the Political Parties to smoothly carry out their legitimate activities.

“The CP was joined in the meeting by members of the Command’s Management Team, while the Political Parties whose leaders were present at the meeting include Accord Party (AP), Action Alliance (AA), Action Congress (AC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), African Alliance Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressive Congress (APC), All Progressive Congress (APC) and All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). Others include: All Progressive Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Boot Party (BP), Labour Party (LP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Young Progressive Party (YPP).”
