…says its left for PDP to deal with it
The Chief spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council (PCC), Festus Keyamo has dismissed insinuations that the name of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appeared as a member of their Campaign Council in error.
Senator Nnamani, the former governor of Enugu State and the candidate of the PDP appeared in the list which was released on Friday, leading to a lot of controversies.
The name of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani is 350 in the list signed by Hon. James Faleke, the secretary of the campaign Council
But appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, the junior minister of Labour said there has not been any refutal from the other side (Chimaroke Nnamani’s), adding that that’s where it should come from if the addition of that name is rejected.
He further stated that there’s no constitutional provision that compels anyone to Campaign for the political party he’s a member of.
“All I can tell you now is that there has been no refutal from the part of Senator Nnamani. The refutal should come from that end not from us.
“There’s no provision in the electoral act or the constitution that says that you have to Campaign for the presidential candidate of your party at all cost. There’s freedom of association in Nigeria.”
Mr. Keyamo also added that its left to the PDP to take any action against the Senator.
“Campaigning for a political party on which platform you wish to contest for an office, is a choice, its not a legal problem. It’s a matter of the internal rules of that political party, so we leave that political party to deal with it.”
