Nkanu Youth Council

The youths Nkanu Land under the aegis of Nkanu Youth Council, have announced that their national elective convention to elect the various executive of the association at both National and Local Government Levels will hold soon.

Comr. Chidera Osy-Peters Okoye and Hon. Prince-will Ugwu, the Secretary and Public Relations Officer of the Council respectively, in a statement issued on 3rd October, said the National convention is one of the outcomes of the last Executive Council Meeting of the Organization held on the 30th of September, 2022 in Enugu.

The Meeting which was chaired by the National Leader of Nkanu Youths and Convener of The National Debate 2022, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani (Odoziobodo) agreed that the Electoral Committee list will be published soon, after which other processes of the Election will be released.

“The National President who was heroically received by Nkanu Youths last week in Enugu, after he toured round the country, visiting Nigeria Leaders, and successfully organized the historical National Debate 2022, through his NGO, Monday Diamond Foundation, appreciated all the Youths of Nkanu Land for the love and tremendous support given to him over time.
He also warned all aspirants to avoid public campaign till the Electoral Committee lifts the ban on campaign for the Council’s leadership.

“Meanwhile, Members of the National Executive Council poured encomium on their National President for the way and manner he has piloted the Affairs of the Organization since it’s formation in 2019, with several recorded achievements and enviable reputation, devoid of blemishes and dent,” the statement reads in part.”

They said the elective convention is important because of the need to “have younger generation Leaders on board Nkanu Youth Council to continue to stir the ship which has become imperative for the Council to continue soaring to greater heights.

“The National Convention date will be unveiled soon.”

Nkanu Youth Council has been in the forefront of the fight for the welfare of the youths from Nkanu Land. One of such interventions was during the pandemic. The council sponsored Hundreds of Thousands of Naira worth of Palliative during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Other interventions include, giving out financial aides to some financially distressed Nkanu Indigents, ‘Pad a Girl’ campaign across the Enugu East Senatorial Zone, payment of school fees for 120 Secondary School Students across the 6 Local Government Areas of Enugu East Senatorial Zone, bursary Awards to some Students in Tertiary Institutions.

The Council was also responsible for organising the renowned Nkanu Unity Cup in which about half a million naira prize awards were won and few talents in football discovered.
