The Eha-Amufu Rescue Group has accused the Labour Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, of shopping for rented crowd in neighbouring states of Ebonyi and Kogi ahead of the official flag-off of Labour Party’s governorship campaign in Enugu East Senatorial Zone scheduled for Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, on Wednesday.

The group made this known in a statement released by its National Coordinator, Benedict Edeh, on Wednesday.

They said Edeoga had only served himself and his family in all the years spent in office and challenged him to a media tour of any projects he attracted to his native community Mgbuji or Isi-Uzo since 1997 when he was elected a Council Chairman till date.

“Rejected by us, his people, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, has resorted to shopping for rented crowd from parts of Enugu, Ebonyi and Kogi States to ameliorate the embarrassment awaiting him on his father’s soil.

“The absence of support from the people of Eha-Amufu, who should ordinarily stand as his bastion, is what any man gets when he decides to work against his people, oppress them, line his pockets against the common good of his people, and misuse his political office to grab their lands with political power.

“For about 25 years, Chijioke has occupied the position of Council Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA, member of the House of Representatives, Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, and Commissioner in the first and second terms of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration, Isi-Uzo and Eha-Amufu cannot point at any dividend of democracy to show for it.

“It is either he is arresting people, who protest against his use of ruffians to expropriate community resources like lands and economic trees, or he is masterminding the illegal detention of our young men, old women, and fathers for refusing to part with their lands.

“The only project he attracted in Eha-Ohuala remains abandoned, overgrown by weeds, and serves as breeding ground for all manner of reptiles for over 20 years.

“We challenge Chijioke to a media tour of any other projects he attracted to Isi-Uzo or Eha-Amufu to prove us wrong. Yes, he is our son, but we cannot reinforce failure”, they said.

The group said Edeoga could rent as much crowd from neighbouring states as he wished, adding that only registered voters in Isi-Uzo would vote on election day, and vowed to disgrace him from one polling unit to the other with their Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC.

The Labour party candidate has been at loggerheads with his Eha-Amufu community, who have also sued him on several occasions in different courts for alleged exploitation and political excesses.
