Hon Pedro Nwankwo, the council Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, has emerged as one of the best performing Chairmen in Nigeria.
Hon Pedro Nwankwo was given the honour on Thursday, 27th October, 2022 during the 21st Edition of the Annual Local Government Chairmen Merit Award (LOGMA 2022); an Annual event organised to reward outstanding Local Government Chairmen in the 774 Local Government Council Areas across the 36 States of the Federation.
Presenting the award to Hon Nwankwo, the Chairman of the occasion and Director General, National Council For Arts and Culture, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe (CON), said the award is in appreciation/acknowledgement of his good works and reward for his excellence in Local Government Administration.
The event titled “Celebration of Excellence” was held at the National Merit House, Abuja.
From among the 774 LGA in Nigeria, the Awgu LG Chairman, Hon. Nwankwo Okwudili Pedro was among the 31 Local Government Chairmen honoured by the body.
LOGMA Coordinator, Chief Bayode Ojo while congratulating Hon Nwankwo, urged him to do because the Award is a call for more service delivery to the good people of Awgu.
Reacting to the award, Hon Pedro Nwankwo appreciated all the people that voted for him to emerge as one of the winners of this year’s National Award and promised not to let them down having gained their confidence.
He also pledged that based on this, there will be a renewed strength and commitment to deliver quality services that will impact more lives and be of great benefit to the good people of Awgu LG.
Hon Pedro Nwankwo was nominated by the members of the public, opinion polls, text messages, on-site assessment of projects and based on his commitment to service delivery, infrastructural development across the Council, accountability, transparency and on holistic grassroot development – from Education, Youth/Sports/Human Empowerment/Sports/Skill Acquisition Programmes, intervention in electricity, Agriculture, security and other Infrastructural development in the Council Secretariat and in all the wards in Awgu LG, Enugu State.
He was accompanied by his Personal Media Aide, Ozo Ikpeamaeze Elvis Chris “Ochubaluagu”, Information Officer Awgu LG, Mrs Anya Ochuka Chinenye, his SSA on Special Duties, Comr. Kingsley Nwafor, Comr. Uchenna Onyearika, Mrs Osuigweani Scholastica Obiageli.
