The various youth leaders in Greater Awgu area of Enugu have hailed the “sterling leadership qualities”, of the Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, while declaring support for the governorship candidate of the PDP, Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the National Assembly candidates; Chief Anayo Onwuegbu and Engr. Osita Ngwu (RG) that are running for Federal House of Representatives and Senate respectively.
The youth leaders drawn from Awgu, Oji River and Aninri LGAs of Enugu State that made up Greater Awgu made stated this in Enugu on Wednesday, 2nd November, 2022.
Addressing the press at the end of their maiden meeting the youth leaders which is a forum of public-interest youths said Governor Ugwuanyi has deployed this leadership style in running the affairs of the state resulting in the entrenchment of peace and sanity in Enugu, adding that the Governor made youths inclusion a paramount part of his administration.
“Greater Awgu Youth Leaders thanks the governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Hon. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his sterling leadership qualities deployed into the running of our dear state, Enugu since 2015. We are grateful for the peace and sanity the government entrenched in Enugu, infrastructural strides and the jurisprudential management of the resources of the state which is why the state has recorded tremendous growth in human resource development and infrastructure.
“The Governor has also brought young people into governance in the state and this, we are proud of and wish that the succeeding government maintains and takes it a notch higher. We’ll continue to support the Governor and his administration as law abiding citizens who desire good for the state and her people.”
They also thanked the Governor for appointing their sons and daughters into exalted positions in the state.
“We thank him for all the projects and appointments drawn into the Greater Awgu, moreover the recent appointment of our brothers as the Vice Chancellor of ESUT, others as Commissioners, MDs, Board members of state owned parastatals and other appointments. May God bless Enugu State Government.”
In the statement which was signed by Hon Engr Uche Umeh, Ezediuto Stanley PhD, Mr Basil Ojengwa, Hon Chidi ilogebe, Barr. Ajah U. Joseph and Hon. Gideon Okolo, the youth leaders while congratulating Peter Mbah, Anayo Onwuegbu and Eng. Osita Ngwu (RG) for emerging as the candidate of the PDP and assured them that they have the number needed to influence his victory in the area.
“We congratulate Barr Peter Mbah over his emergence as gubernatorial candidate of our great party – PDP in Enugu State. We promise to support and sensitise our people on the imperative of having a progress-minded next Governor in the person of Barr Peter Mba. Our membership drive has what it takes to influence the victory of PDP in the Greater Awgu come 2023. This, we promise to do with a high sense of altruism and decorum.
“We felicitate with Chief Engr Anayo Onwuegbu and Eng. Osita Ngwu (RG) for emerging the House of Representatives and senatorial candidates of our party to represent the good people of Greater Awgu and Enugu West at the National Assembly, and promise to do everything within the confines of our strength and law to get them winning the election.
“Chief Onwuegbu is a man of proven integrity and capacity, possessing qualities needed to represent our constituency and bring back home in manifolds, an unrivalled measure of dividends of democracy. We wish to assure them of our absolute commitment in the strive to get them winning the election. We have the needed structure and membership strength to achieve this all-important goal.
“We also send our congratulatory message to all PDP candidates for House of Assembly thereby assuring them that all hands are on deck to ensure that they all come victorious in the forthcoming elections.
“We plead and call on every stakeholders, men of goodwill let’s come together and embrace unity so as to move into the election with one mindset of victory for greater Awgu people.

“Finally, we thank the people of the Greater Awgu for being resolute in the effort to deepen democracy in the area through the instrumentality of PDP. We promise them of a conducive political atmosphere within this period and always. We wish our party and its candidates well and pray God to give us the wisdom and strength to carry on with the activities leading to the 2023 general elections in Greater Awgu!” the statement read.
