Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, has said that contrary to the claim that Peter Obi supporters aren’t known outside social media, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party is known by Nigerians of different generations.
The revered Monarch made the statement on Friday when Mr. Peter Obi visited the Oba’s Palace in Benin City before proceeding with his presidential campaign in the state.
Out of curiosity, I have asked a small child, I have asked an old man and middle aged to get just a sense of what is going on with this new guy in town.
“Do you know Peter Obi? I’ll ask the little child. Surprisingly, he will say yes, when I say a little child, I mean a very little child between the ages of 12 to 14 years and old men with gray hair, the 90-year-old and all that. I wonder if these people that are saying it’s only social media, if they’re…. Anyway let me not go there because this is the Benin thrown,”Oba Ewuare II, said.
Speaking earlier during the visit, the former Anambra State governor said: “we want to build Nigerians, we have a country called Nigeria but we don’t have Nigerians. We want to give the youths future. We’ve talented youths with too much energy, we want to put resources in their hands.”
Mr. Peter Obi reechoed his passion to revamp the economy of the country through agriculture.
“We have vast uncultivated lands in the North, that’s our next oil. We want to tell the Niger Deltans that it wasn’t a misplacing that we found oil in your place, we want to start rebuilding it. We want to build a government of empathy. If there’s flooding, we will go, sympathise with people, show that there’s governance and there’s government.”
