The Awka Ibom chapter of the All Progressives Congress has suffered another setback as a Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, the capital of the state, has cancelled the governorship primary of the party conducted in May 26, 2022.
The court in a landmark judgement also ordered for a fresh governorship primary within 14 days.
While delivering judgment on Monday, November 14, 2022, the presiding judge, Justice Agatha Okeke, also disqualified the governorship candidate of the party, Akanimo Udofia, from participating in the primary, saying that he was not a member of the APC in the state.
Senator Ita Solomon Enang, former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari had challenged the alleged nomination of Akan Udofia as the party’s governorship candidate.
Enang had claimed that Udofia was a governorship aspirant on the ticket of the PDP two days to the APC governorship primary, adding that Udofia should not have been nominated to fly the party’s flag.
Udofia, a businessman, has already picked Victor Antai as his running mate.
