The Enugu SME Center, has graduated 150 Youths under the ‘Enugu SME Cyber Security Learning Program’ (ECSL).

The ECSL is a public-private partnership project between the Enugu SME Center with CyberSafe Foundation and PING Talents Limited designed to support youth between 18-30 years old with globally sought after cybersecurity skills as a means to fight poverty, cybercrime, skills shortage and unemployment in the country.

The students where subjected to seven (7) months Intensive lectures before they were graduated As a fellow of the Program.

Speaking to JOURNALIST101, the Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on SMEs Development and Director General, Enugu SME Centre, Hon. Arinze Chilo-Offiah, commended the commitment and dedication of the graduating students, stressing that “they were truly exceptional” and “we’re proud to introduce them as the first graduating Students of the Enugu SME Cyber Security Learning Program.

“This training is in sync with the commitment of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led administration to youth empowerment and transformation. His Excellency didn’t hold anything back in giving us the necessary support needed for this training because he believes in empowerment through skill acquisition.

“The journey that started seven (7) months ago has finally come to an end and we rounded it off with a graduation ceremony for the students.

“They were exposed to Digital Literacy Training, Cyber Awareness Training,  Introduction of Cybersecurity Training,  Networking Basics Training, Desired Specialized Cybersecurity Training (they were allowed to choose from Networking, IT Security Audit, Incident Analysis/Response SOC Analyst Level 1, Penetration/Vulnerability Testing, Threat Intelligence, Web Application Testing, Cloud Security) and Soft Skills Training.”

Speaking further, Hon. Chilo-Offiah revealed that “the best graduating students were rewarded and most of the beneficiaries also got an internship and our prayer for all graduates is that the knowledge they acquired over the past seven months will be put to good use. And that this skill will push them to make Enugu State Cyber Crime Free.”

Speaking with our correspondent, one of the graduates that gave his name as Ifeanyi said he was trained on cloud security.

He expressed satisfaction with the training and thanked the state government for the opportunity, adding that it has been very impactful to them.

“I was trained in the career path of cloud security. Haven passed through this training, I have been equipped to help business and organisations manage their cloud infrastructure. I’ve been trained to help businesses migrate to the cloud for better security and service delivery.

“I have been trained to help both big organisations and SMEs to protect their data, both on the cloud and in their business premises. The knowledge I’ve gotten will help me in no small way to protect myself and any organisation I find myself,” Mr. Ifeanyi said.
