UFC fighter, Israel Adesanya who was arrested on Wednesday at JFK Airport for being in possession of metal knuckles, has been released.
Adesanya was said to be in possession of Metal knuckles which are illegal in New York.
The act is listed as a class A misdemeanour in New York.
Adesanya’s manager, Tim Simpson, said the knuckles were given to Adesanya by a fan and the fighter put them in his luggage.
“Israel was handed a gift by a fan, which he put in his luggage,” Simpson said in a statement.
“When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item, and cooperated with authorities.
“He has complied accordingly, with that the matter was dismissed and he is on his way home.”
It comes after Adesanya lost his middleweight title to Brazilian Alex Pereira in a bruising encounter on the weekend.
