In his over 10 years yearly ritual, the member Representing Ezeagu Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly has feted over 700 women and widows in his constituency.

In his address to the women that gathered at his (Obieze’s) country home, the Lawmaker reminded the women that the gesture started several years ago even before his sojourn into conventional politics.

“Giving to the widows is like a pet project to me and not in anyway related to politics. I’ll  continue to give to the widows and the women even when I don’t occupy public office, because its a source of happiness to me.”

He thanked them for their continued support and prayers while assuring them that their welfare is paramount to him.

Some of the beneficiaries that spoke to newsmen expressed happiness with the gesture, adding that Obieze has lifted a heavy financial burden off their shoulders.

Mrs Agatha Udeh from Agba-Umana said Hon. Obieze’s intervention came when needed, noting that they won’t worry about their Christmas rice courstey of the Lawmaker.

She said the cash stipend they received is enough to buy condiments for their Christmas food.

Mrs Ogwueche from Mgbagbu-Owa said her prayers for Hon. Obieze is for “good health and long life, because God has already lifted him up and he was born with a good heart, a heart of giving. So I am sure he will continue to give to us except he doesn’t have and God will not allow that to happen”.

Mrs Ugonkwo maintained that “this initiative started years before Hon. Chima Obieze became a member of Enugu State House of Assembly. So these women are dear to him. Not only that he gives to us every Easter, August meeting and Christmas season but once he hears any of us is sick he will either visit or send money, sometimes he sends his workers to take the sick to the hospital and he pays the bills.

She recounted a woman that had a leaking roof few months back and “when we notified Hon. Obieze, he sent his engineers to come and re-roof the House. Obieze have kindness interred in his bones, he is honestly a good man. God will continue to bless him for us”.

Mrs Enemmuo from Iwollo-Oghe who prayed for Hon. Obieze on behalf of the widows and women of Ezeagu asked God to “continue to give to Hon. Obieze because whatever he gives to Hon. Obieze he has given to the poor masses”. She said Hon. Obieze gives even when he doesn’t have let alone when God is blessing him.
