The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, In Enugu has urged the people of Isi-Uzo not to fall prey of the antics of those using social media to run for Governor of the state.

Nnamani gave the charge on Saturday when Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi paid an unscheduled visit to the council area.

Augustine Nnamani, who’s also from Isi-Uzo and a former chairman of the council reminded his people that a lot of persons have been empowered by Governor Ugwuanyi and no amount of propaganda can rewrite “this truth.”

He reminded them that “those castigating the PDP were made by the PDP. When they were leading under the PDP, we followed without complaining but today, they’re on social media in their few numbers manufacturing all manner of lies to deceive the few uninformed.”

Continuing, Nnamani said that “election isn’t won on social media”, adding that “only Isi-Uzo can’t determine the next governor of Enugu State.

“We’ve been to 45 development centres and the turnout is unimaginable and that’s a simple indication that PDP is a household party that’s known in all nooks and crannies of the state. There’s nothing few persons propelled by hate can do to the PDP.

“After the election on the 11th of March, people will find out who’s deceiving them and who’s telling them the truth. I’m telling you the truth today and after the elections, you’ll appreciate this truth.

“The persons playing their politics on social media are not prepared for this election because they know they can’t win. Anyone attaching emotions to the forthcoming election should desist from it and we should go back and tell our people the truth.

“The truth is that Peter Mbah remains the best candidate in this election. He’s the most prepared and his programmes are lofty, thus, we can’t afford to be driven by emotion. Our Governor has been so kind to us and we can only pay him back with our support.”

He went further to call on his people “not to be deceived by any shenanigan and join the moving train that has the capacity to get to its destination. On the 25th of February, you will see what will happen and on the 11th of March, the same victory will be replicated.”

In his response, Governor Ugwuanyi thanked the people of Isi-Uzo for their support since 2015 and told them that his visit is to know how they’re faring and how life has been with them since after the crisis which has been brought under control.

He charged them to go out and pick their PVC and vote for PDP Candidates in the forthcoming general election because he’s on the ballot for all the elections as the leader of the party.

On the kidnap crisis in Ikem area of the council area, he assured the them that necessary actions have been taken to arrest the situation as such, there’s no need to panic.

Other speakers at the event include Hon. Cornelus Nnaji, member representing Enugu Eadt/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency; the chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, Hon. Barr. Jideofor Ebe the Commissioner for Commerce; Hon. Mrs. Amaka Aguiyi Ugwueze who represents Isi-Uzo in Enugu State House of Assembly; Eric Ebe Special Assistant to the Governor.

They all took turn to thank the Governor for restoring peace in their area and assuring him that their people will vote for the PDP.
