The immediate past Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Barrister Ben Nwoye has accused the embattled chairman of the party, Barr. Ugochukwu Agballah of working for Peter of the Labour Party against their Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Nwoye who’s the Mobilization Committee Chairman of Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council (ICC) said his position is a result of credible intelligence gathered on the activities of Ugochukwu Agballah.
Nwoye who’s also a Federal Commissioner representing South East zone in the Federal Consumer Competition Protection Commission (FCCPC) made the revelation in Enugu on Thursday while addressing journalists in the State office of ICC.
JOURNALIST101 recalls that Ugo Agballah on Wednesday, banned the activities of Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council in Enugu State. This is about the 9nky campaign group physically campaigning for APC Presidential Candidate in Enugu State.
Nwoye said this is a furtherance of the disdain Agballah and his cohorts have for Tinubu’s candidacy which they tried everything to scuttle during the primaries but failed woefully.
Continuing, the APC Chieftain added that Agballah’s pronouncement “through his puppet is a further confirmation that he (Agballah) has been working for the Obidient family. He has worked for the Obidients even before now, after their failure to secure and shift power to the North.
“Ugochukwu Agballah was in APGA and that was where his marriage with the Labour Party’s presidential candidate began. And now he has sworn that our dear candidate won’t get any vote having seen the level of Mobilization, with the combination of what’s happening in PDP where portion of the Ebeano Political family is supportive of the emergence of our presidential candidate as the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Nwoye went further to state that his accusation is correct as Agballah and Uche Nnaji; the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Enugu State have not done any single thing to support their Presidential Candidate.
“Ugochukwu Agballah and his gubernatorial candidate has not done any form of organisation for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The only bill board they put up was done 2 days to the presidential rally in Enugu State. You will find out that majority of their billboards don’t identify with Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Every rally they go to, they identify themselves as Obidients and they say vote for me after voting for Labour Party in the presidential election.”
On why he dumped their gubernatorial candidate for the PDP’s Guber Candidate, Nwoye said he can’t support a man that not only is he unknown to the party, is colourless in character. He recalled that Uche Nnaji is the only person in the current democratic dispensation that resigned his position after winning election and not giving any reason till date.
“Everybody knows who the person they chose as their Guber Candidate is. Enugu people knows who he’s. That’s a man who took a ticket to run for Senate in 1999 to represent Enugu East Senatorial Zone. I’m from this Senatorial district, same as Senator Ken Nnamani and many other leaders of the APC.
“He won this election, the people elected him to represent them in the Senate and he became the first man in the current democratic dispensation that won a Senate seat and resigned. He didn’t resign after serving even one day, but refused to take oath of office. He didn’t resign because he got other political appointment, he resigned and disappeared.
“You don’t erase this kind of history, the Enugu East people remembers the hand he dealt them when they casted their votes and he abandoned them without saying a word. But for Distinguished Senator Nwodo who rose to the occasion, the people would have been without a representative.
“He hasn’t answered the question why? After many years, believing that the people have forgotten, he emerged from no where believing that the people has forgotten. So, the people of Enugu State to chant a way forward for the state and it’s not issue of political party but that of capacity, competency and trustworthiness. If you haven’t answered Enugu East people why you abandoned them in 1999, why are you coming back in 2023 to become the Governor of Enugu State? So the leadership of Enugu East decided to follow who won’t abandon them again after winning the election.
“In addition to that, this is a man that walked into the party through the back door, never visited any stakeholder. Not the former Senate President, not the former Governor, not the former speaker, not anybody, not even me, except when he came for registration. We registered him, he pocketed his card and walked away. Only to show up and pick up the party’s guber ticket and never came to campaign, except to go from place to place, insulting the leaders including myself. Where would anyone support him, we’ve the video where he described the stakeholders as ‘takeholders’ (sic), that they’re all thieves. This is a man that has been absent from Enugu political space, an unknown political figure in the political activities of the state. You just showed up and what to take the prime position.
“So the question is where’s the anti-party? If you have never gone to Senator Ken Nnamani and inform him that you’re running. If you’re were just superimposed on the party (because nobody contested with him) any stakeholder to tell them you’re running for the election. You brought a political outsider and gave him the ticket of the party and expect the stakeholders to follow him when all he does is to insult them (stakeholders).
Nwoye lampooned the National Working Committee of the APC for maintaining a “willful blindness” while Ugo Agballah continues to destroy what’s left of the APC in Enugu State.
