In what can pass as a script in Nigeria’s Nollywood movies, a car vandal has been arrested in Moore Street, Ogui Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The suspect, Victor Odomena from Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State was caught sleeping inside a car he attempted to vandalise the car while holding the master key used in gaining access into the car in his hand.
The owner of the car, Sebastine Okafor (Bookastro) said the suspect was trapped inside the car by his ultramodern security system.
“I came out at about 8am to enter my vehicle and discovered the suspect dozing inside my vehicle,” Mr. Okafor told our correspondent.
“I don’t know how he managed to gain access into my vehicle. I immediately alerted my neighbours about what’s going on and went to Ogui police station to report the development.
“He didn’t work alone because the valuables I left in the vehicle were carted away. Its possible his colleagues ran away when my ultramodern security held this one down.
“I believe this is the same syndicate that was responsible for vandalising my vehicle in 2022 and I spent above 300,000 fixing it. He’s currently at Ogui police station.”
JOURNALIST101 gathered that the suspect was beaten into pulp and escaped being burnt alive by the arrival of Police operatives from Ogui division.
Another resident of the area said she escaped being attacked by the vandals when she encountered them in the early hours of today while they were still carrying out the operation.
“They pointed gun at me, I almost passed uring on my clothes out of fear and anxiety. These people have been terrorising us in this area and I’m happy one of them didn’t escape this time around.”
They also vandalised another vehicle same night.
In his statement, the suspect said he was forced into the vehicle by armed robbers that were operating in the area.
The suspect said that he’s a stylist and lives in Trans Ekulu area of the state. He added that he was invited to come to ball room for night clubbing.
According to our reporter, his story isn’t adding up because Ballroom, where he lives and where he was caught aren’t in the same direction. If he leaves at Trans Ekulu as he claims, he doesn’t have any business with Moore avenue which is an entirely different route.
