The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has reiterated that they will always prioritise character, competence and capacity in voting for any candidate in the March 18th Governorship and House of Assemblies election.
Obi, who appeared as a guest in AriseTv’s morning programme, said Labour Party and the Obidient movement is ready to work with other candidates in places where we don’t have capable hands.
“We didn’t have candidates for Governorship in most of the states because of the kind of politics we play. Nobody gave Labour Party a chance because it wasn’t one of the frontline parties.
“In few places, we have first class candidates, I believe and I support them and I also call on obidents and the people to support them because they’ll do a good job.
“In some places, we’re going to work with some good candidates because there are places we don’t have candidates. There are few of them and we’re going to have partnership with other parties. It’s not about saying it must be Labour Party, no. Where we think we have good candidates, we’re going to support them, where we think we’ve somebody better, we will support them.
“Don’t say it must be these people, with time, we’ll build this institution and ensure that everything we’re doing is the right thing.
“In states where we’ve good candidates, we are going to support them and where we don’t, we will be honest to the people because we’re trying to build a new politics where we’ve people of character, competence, capacity and compassion always.
