With less than 48 hours Enugu State governorship race, the chances of Barr. Peter Mbah, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Candidate has gotten a major boost as Coalition of Registered Political Parties, CRPP has adopted him (Mbah) as their sole candidates.
The group in a communique issued in Enugu, said their choice of Mbah came after a rigorous assessment of the manifestos of all the major candidates.
The communique was signed by the duo of Dr. Afam Ani of the Action Peoples Party (APP) and Barr. Ken Ike of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the chairman and secretary of CRPP respectively.
The communique said that 12 out of the 18 registered parties agreed that Peter Mbah/Ifeanyi Ossai ticket will satisfy the yearnings of Ndi Enugu
“We are made up of State Chairmen and candidates of 12 out of the Eighteen (18) registered political parties that are recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and participating in the 2023 General Election in Nigeria.
“The Coalition engaged in rigorous contentious debates and review of the leading candidates running for the Governorship position in Enugu State, considered the immediate and remote yearnings of NdiEnugu visa viz the various working documents/manifestoes sold out in the course of the campaigns; we also considered the alarming rate of unemployment and brain drain among our young people and concluded that DR, PETER NDUBISI MBAH/IFEANYI OSSAI joint ticket will serve the genuine hopes and aspiration of our people, secure lives and property and guarantee a more prosperous future in Enugu State and hereby adopt their candidature.
“It is in view of the above, that CRPP Enugu State is urging our members, supporters and the entire good people of Enugu State to vote for Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah/Ifeanyi Ossai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor and Deputy Governor Enugu State on Saturday, 18th March 2023,” the statement reads in part.
In his response, the PDP governorship candidate who was represented by Nana Ogbodo, the Chief Spokesperson of the PDP Campaign said “I’m humbled by this consensus of approval conferred on our candidate.”
“A candidate like Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah comes to the society once in a lifetime. If you have gone through his manifesto, it may give you a clue of where we’re headed to but when you listen to him, you will agree with me that he came very prepared.
“Mbah wants a transition from the pipeline system of governance to a platform system of governance. He’s preaching a disruptive innovation which is founded on doing something different and not better.”
He assured them that Mbah will not dash this trust reposed on him.
