Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths, Enugu state chapter, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to quickly complete the process of complete the process of announcing the winner of the state governorship election, while urging the youths to de-escalate tension.

Mazi Nnamdi Odo, Youth Leader, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State in a terse statement made available to JOURNALIST101, thanked the youths of the state for coming out en masse to cast their votes, adding that that the aftermath of the announcement is also very important.

“INEC should quickly concluded and announce the results of the elections of 18th March 2023 to avoid further tensions.

“All the youths of Enugu state are adviced to embrace peace and be law abiding before, during and after the results are announced. Aggrieved candidates and their supporters are encouraged to seek redress in the Election Tribunal.

“Youths across the Senatorial zones, especially Nkanu and Enugu North (Nsukka) are adviced to de-escalate tensions and embrace peace. This election is not a fight between both zones, after all, people from all the zones voted for different candidates of their choice.

“Finally, as we await the final collation and result from INEC, we urge the youths to be ambassadors of peace. Whoever is announced the governor of Enugu state will not govern only his party but will be a governor for all of us, therefore, may we be guided by the spirit of brotherhood.
