The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate in the February 25 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has alleged that there is a “game plan of upturning the democratic wishes of the people of Adamawa State”.
Atiku stated this on Sunday through a press release signed by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, on Sunday, following a declaration by Hudu Yunusa, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Adamawa of Aisha Dahiru, as the winner of the election in the State.
Recall that the electoral body suspended the collation of results in the supplementary gubernatorial election held on Saturday in the State following non-adherence to election guidelines and process.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the INEC, Hudu Yunusa. announced Binani as the winner, even when the resumption of the collation of results scheduled for 11 am on Sunday had yet to start following the supplementary election held Saturday.
Atiku said that the voided election in which Binani was declared winner has become a case study of the shambolic nature of the 2023 elections in general.
“It must be put on record that the people of Adamawa State will not allow themselves to cheated three times in a row. It must also be put on record that whatever the consequences of the scheme being scripted, both the INEC and those vested with state powers should be blamed for the consequences of such actions,” he said.
Atiku demanded that the Adamawa REC and other parties involved in the voided declaration, which he described as a treasonable act, should be arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to anti-democratic forces.
