Urhobo-Isoko Association of Calgary Alberta, Canada has on Sunday, 16th April, 2023 donated relief materials to the victims of flooding in Otu Jeremi Community of Ughelli South Local Government area of Delta state.

Presenting the relief Mr Sylvester Oyibocha, President Urhobo-Isoko Association of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, said the gesture is to ameliorate the sufferings of their people affected by the natural disaster.

Mr. Oyibocha who was represented by the Rector Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Dr. Duke Okoro, added that the donation is a practice by the association and a way of reminding their people at home that those in diaspora haven’t forgotten them.

Dr. Okoro, a one time president of the Association presented the relief Items along side his beautiful wife Mrs Gloria Duke Okoro who is also a member of the association.

He revealed that FLOOD ASSISTANCE RELIEF was born by the association way back in Calgary Alberta Canada, when they heard the flood disaster that affected the people of Otu Jeremi Community along side other communities.

He said: “As an association, we embark on this project to one Urhobo community and one Isoko community. Today, we are representing the interest of the Urhobo community in Otu Jeremi Community because they were highly affected during the flood disaster.

“We are here with the following items; 5 Bags of Beans, 5 Bags of Rice, 5 Bags of Garri,and 50 packs of Maggi cubes as a way to show that the pains the flood victims are going through touches their brothers and sisters in Calgary Alberta Canada”.

Receiving the Flood assistance relief materials on behalf of the community, His Royal Majesty, Mathew Ediri Egbi (JP), the Owhawa II, the Okobaro of Ughievwen kingdom, expressed sincere appreciation to the Urhobo-Isoko Association for the kind gesture emphasising that it is indeed a great relief to the people of the land.

The Owhawa II, who described the presentation as a wonderful one as its coming from an association that is in far away Canada to his people, noting that the gesture will be forever remembered.

He prayed God to replenish the association pocket as he extends his warm regards.

His Royal Majesty, Mathew Ediri (JP) also seized the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Duke Okoro on his recent appointment as Rector Federal Polytechnic Orogun Delta while thanking His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and all those that made the appointment a reality.
