Late ex-President Umaru Yar'Adua

Thirteen years after, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan is celebrating the life and time of his boss and former Nigerian president, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Late President Yar’Adua was Nigeria’s president between 2007-2009 when he passed on after a protracted illness. Jonathan was his Vice and took over following his demise.

In a post via his Twitter account, Jonathan described the late President as “an exemplary leader, who lived above ethnic and religious sentiment.”

His words:

“On this day thirteen years ago , our nation lost a great and selfless leader President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He was a man of peace , justice and accountability.

“We look back with appreciation to God for the gift his life and his impact in our nation.

“President Yar’Adua was an exemplary leader, who lived above ethnic and religious sentiment. And his public life inspired many positively.

“Today we remember him for his life of service , dedication and commitment to a united and prosperous nation .

“We will continue to remember him for his developmental strides and his commitment to the peace and progress of Nigeria.”
