A group of unknown gunmen terrorising parts of Anambra State on Wednesday, met their waterloo as Police operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, Akwuzu raided their camp, killed two of them and recovered various items.

In a terse statement made available to newsmen, the Anambra command Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said the camp is located in ifite, Ogbunike, Oyi LGA.

According to him, their operatives “in an attempt to rescue two of the kidnapped Victims stormed into a camp at ifite, Ogbunike, Oyi LGA, neutralized two of the armed men, recovered a black Lexus SUV with a lot of security uniforms which comprises that of Police and Military.”

Ikenga attributed the operational breakthrough to the “credible information to the Police Command from the residents of the state,” and assured that “the battle against the insurgents in Anambra is focused and it will remain sustained until such a time security stability is fully restored in the state.”
