A non governmental organisation; Boys Champions, on Tuesday, joined the rest of the word to commemorate the day of the Boy Child.
The Director of Boys Champion, Okolo Chukwunonso said: “We provides opportunities for connection and community building, while advancing boys’ skills, raising responsible men, and providing them with opportunities to be leaders. Through our programs, we’re raising young men who will respect, support and protect girls and women in Nigeria.
“Our nonprofit organization is committed to providing safe place for women and girls by engaging young boys and men, teaching them healthy masculinity and how to relate to females respectfully.”
May 16th every year is set aside to celebrate the boy child. It focuses on boys and their well-being, their needs to feel happy, healthy, and valued within family and community.
Continuing on what they do, Mr. Okolo said: “We inspire, encourage, support and celebrate all the boy child across the globe – especially those under our mentorship programs- while encouraging them to speak out.
“Yes, the society and culture want men to provide and protect, men must be strong regardless but, it is also okay not to me okay!
“We encourage boy child and men to always speak out! Take your mental health serious.”
