An inspector of Police has been killed after gunmen launched a deadline attack in a check point in Ebonyi state, while injuring 2 others.

The incident occurred on Monday night at the bustling Union Bank roundabout, not far away from the State Police Command headquarters in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.

According to sources, the armed assailants opened fire on the police officers manning the checkpoint, resulting in the death of an inspector. Two other police officers were also shot during the attack, but fortunately, they survived.

The injured officers were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya hasn’t reacted to the attack at the time of this report.
