Chief Uchenna Cyril Anioke, Ph.D the President/Chairman-in-Council Nigerian Publishers Association (NPA) has been invited to serve on the Board of Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG).
His invitation is contained in a letter by the Acting Executive Director, Kayode Motunrayo, dated 22nd May, 2023.
According to the letter, Dr. Anioke’s invitation is in recognition is his “extensive range of experiences” which is needed to reposition the society.
“In pursuit of our commitment to fortify REPRONIG’s repositioning agenda and foster principles of good governance and transparency an indispensable facet of an effective CMO – within the Society, we find it imperative to reinforce the Board Membership with dynamic individuals.
“It is with this in mind that REPRONIG extends an invitation to you to serve on its Board, so that the literary sector of the creative industry can benefit from your extensive range of experiences. As a renowned publisher, an astute administrator, and President of the Nigerian Publishers Association, your suitability for this position is beyond question,” the letter reads in part.
The Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria (REPRONIG) is the collective management organisation (CMO) approved by the Nigerian Copyright Commission to administer the secondary rights (photocopying and digital download) of authors and publishers in the literary field.
The primary mandate of REPRONIG is the collective management of rights in literary works, including images embedded in such works. REPRONIG is affiliated with the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO).
Anioke is also an elected Executive of the world’s largest federation of publishers; The International Publishers Association (IPA), Geneva, Switzerland, which was established in 1896
