Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Bamidele Oloyeloogun, has resigned, stepping down from his position as the head of the state’s legislative arm.

his resignation is coming few days to the expiration of the current 7th Assembly.

The Speaker’s decision to resign was conveyed in a letter, printed on the House’s official letterhead, and addressed to the Clerk of the House.

Dated June 1, 2023, the letter was titled “Resignation as Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly.”

In the letter, Oloyeloogun stated, “Please allow me to inform you that I, Rt. Hon. Oleyelogun, Bamidele David, am stepping down from my position as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. This decision is effective from today (Thursday).”

He continued, “As you are well aware, this esteemed House has consistently fulfilled its constitutional responsibilities as a unified entity. It was this spirit that propelled me to the prestigious position of Speaker. It is in that same spirit that I now resign from the position.”

Oloyeloogun expressed his gratitude to his colleagues, acknowledging their unwavering support during his tenure as Speaker.

He stated, “I must express my appreciation to all my colleagues who have been exceptional partners in progress. I can confidently say that I have enjoyed their remarkable and unparalleled support throughout my time as Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly. I will extend the same level of support and loyalty to whomever succeeds me as Speaker of this esteemed House.”

The letter concluded with the Speaker extending his thanks and assuring the recipient of his utmost respect.
