Election has come and gone, a new government has taken over almost all across the State of the nation, but one peculiar State for us (the Igbos) is Enugu State.
Overtime, Enugu State is dubbed the capital of the South east and it’s always within our sub conscious on the peace that exists around Enugu as a State because it’s also a gateway to the South East.
For the past 8 years, Enugu State citizens have enjoyed a high level of peace, secured atmosphere and high rate of employment and empowerment.
However, this didn’t just come by mere wish, instead,through a man’s dream and hard work. That man is H.E. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Gburugburu of Igbo land. A man that listens to his people’s plight. A compassionate leader, very calm and articulate whose quietness sometimes is taken for weakness by those who are intent on not seeing the good in him.
Gov. Ugwuanyi took Youth empowerment so seriously that he appointed majority of the youths into his cabinet . He believes once the youth are inculcated into political power sharing, the future of the State is secured because by including the Youths in governance, you are also building a platform for a better future for Enugu State.
Gov. Ugwuanyi also took the religious bodies seriously because of his deep fear and love for God, and that goes a long way to tell why the Church honoured him and supported him through out his tenure even up until now he’s no more in office.
His astute support for the Church spoke volume and still speaks volume for him.
Amidst the crisis and insecurity in the South East, Enugu State didn’t have much stories of the kind of insecurity that existed around its neighboring States during his tenure, This is because he was always on dialogue with the security agencies, local vigilantes and necessary security outfits, because of his great concern for the good people of Enugu State. He knew that no development can take place in an atmosphere of violence, troubles, crimes and insecurity, today Enugu is safe and secure and business thrives..we all can attest that
Enugu city is the holiday city of every south eastern person residing outside the south east region and it’s security is paramount to every Igbo man home and in diaspora. This and many other reasons are why His Excellency Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi GBURUGBURU will continuously enjoy the massive love of his people especially the Youths and the body of Christ.
With the coming of the new governor, H.E Peter Mbah, one hopes that he builds and consolidates on the service and goodwill of former Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi .
