Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th Assembly of the National Assembly, the aspiration of Hon. Miriam Onuoha, member representing Isiala Mbano/Okigwe/Onuimo Federal Constituency to clinch the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has continued to receive solidarity and support across relevant interest groups.
This is as The Empower Girls Initiative,TEGI, an advocacy group, has made case for the emergence of Hon. Onuoha who has Indicated interest for the plum job.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Ahunam Pearl, founder of the group, described as, “audacity to dare”, the lawmaker’s ambition, adding that, “it is as a bold step towards achieving balance and establishing a system where women and girls will not only be heard, but also understood and protected”.
While.pledging the group’s unalloyed support, for the realization of the project, Ahunam, lamented the neglect of women in the political leadership in Nigeria, noting that time has come to change the narrative for the good of the country.
The award winning founder, stated that, “looking back at her track record, you would, but agree thatthat Hon. Miriam Onuoha, beyond being a woman, has proven to be a personality whose competence, capacity and impact can never be disregarded or underestimated.
“The Nigeria of our dream can only be achieved when inclusivity of women in all the sector of our polity is prioritised. Women, such as Hon. Onuoha who have demonstrated legislative competence should be given all the support they can get as this goes ahead to put Nigeria on the global map as a Nation that thrives in equity.
Continuing, the group stated that, “Hon Miriam is a mirror that reflects every girl and woman whose dreams look bigger than they can handle. She is an inspiration, a reflection of the challenges of the female gender whose emergence will strengthen the belief that our nation supports competence regardless of gender, religion, and ethnicity.
The group, therefore called on the legislators-elect of the House of Representatives to support the emergence of Hon. Onuoha as the Deputy Speaker in the interest and stability of the nation
