The hope of Chief Uche Nnaji, the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the March 18th Governorship Election to replicate what happened in Imo State in Enugu has suffered a serious setback as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu, on Tuesday, dismissed his (Nnaji’s) petition
Nnaji who came a very distant 4th in the election, is challenging the victory of Governor Peter Mbah in the March 18 governorship poll, as well as asking the tribunal to disqualify Hon Barr Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party and Frank Nweke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Nnaji who’s seeking to jump from his 4th position, petitioned the court alleging that the candidates of the three other political parties were not qualified to contest the March 18 election and as such, he should be declared the winner of the election as the only qualified candidate for the contest.
However, in a ruling delivered by its chairman, Justice K. M. Akano, the Tribunal held that the petition was not filed in line with the provisions of the 2022 Electoral Act.
