The Executive Chairman of Igbo-Etiti local government area, Hon. Ikenna Nwodo has launched a tech hub in his council.
Speaking during the launch on Wednesday, Hon. Nwodo said the hub, which is located at the local government headquarters in Ogbede, is propelled by his promises during campaign, to foster a transformational development in Science and Technology, especially in ICT.
He added that the hub will go a very long way in subsidizing Information, communication and technology needs of the Local Government Students, Staff, residents and visitors.
The Council Boss also revealed that the hub also has a digital skills training department and efforts are on top gear to ensure a partnership with Facebook, Google, Microsoft and others while other trainings in basic computer programmes like, Microsoft Suit, Graphic Design Using Figmla & Canva, Programming, Basic Troubleshoot, Coding, web Design, prompt Engineering (How to ask and use Al to solve problems) are on.
The Chairman assured the students that they will not only get the training but would be plugged into getting jobs for survival after the training.
Furthermore, Hon. Nwodo said his determination to digitalise the council is unwavering and this informed the installation of a daily functional WiFi network in Igbo-Etiti local government for the Students use amidst their training as well as general use of the entire people of Igbo-Etiti Local government.
“The digital center will partner with Genix and other network signal to ensure that there would be a steady internet network and we’ve also provided a standby generator and projectors for a seamless learning process.”, he said.
“The plan is to be in the world of online market and also own businesses, currency exchange market, and human resource management team that will expand and center the economy development and growth in Igbo-etiti. I believe that in the next 3 to 4 years, Igbo Etiti will venture into it’s first export.”
The supervisor for education, Comrade Ogbonna Ogbaji, in his presentation, acquainted the students on the importance of the training and charged them to key in as well as be part of the program fully.
In their contributions, Comrade Bonaventure Ekene Akubue, The supervisor for youths and sports emphatically stated that the digital skill training center is a legacy from the able project master that will continue beyond his regime.
Rt. Hon. Valentine Atunya, leader of the legislative council, urged the students to take the training seriously and hailed them for turning out en-mass for the training, while applauding the Chairman for the project.

Igbo-Etiti/ Uzo-Uwani Constituency Youth Assembly President, ACJ Favour Amuka described the initiative by the Council Chairman as “sheer energy of determination, vision, capacity and doggedness” which he said has “driven your administration and remarkably set it apart and above your contemporaries and has set a standard that will stand the test of time in the hearts of the Youths and or students community”
Commending the Executive Chairman for unimaginable determination in the ICT sector and beyond, the Enugu NANS Chairman, Comr. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi said. The students’ body will partner with the council’s administration.
One of the Students by name, Anikwe Ifesinachi while appreciating the LG Chairman, also pleaded with the chairman that it would be good to get them laptops for home practice after the hub training.
