…Dean Says Journalist don’t need to know what happened
There’s an easy calm at University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, UNEC as the students residing at Manuwa Hostel are protesting the invasion of their hostel by their associate Dean in the wee hours of the night.
According a video obtained by our correspondent, the students could be seen asking the Dean; Professor Iniekong Udoh why she brought men to their hostel by 12:30am while they were sleeping.
Some of the students that spoke to our correspondent said many of them were sleeping naked when the Dean arrived with male staff from the students’ affairs department to enforce a strange law of stopping them from using their bucket for urination called “Pee bucket” because the sight of the toilet is awful.
“We were sleeping and around 12am, I heard a noise and when I asked, they said the Associate Dean is in the hostel to evict squatters and seize our pee bucket.
“Most of us were sleeping naked when she came with the men because their was no light. She will barge into your room and will be asking you to provide evidence of allocation for the hostel,” the student who doesn’t want her name in print said.
Another student expressed displeasure that their Dean who’s a professor in the department of Medical laboratory will expect them to use the toilet that exposes them to many health risks.
“You need to see the toilet (Video above) this woman expects us to use in the hostel, even an animal can’t survive there because its so dilapidated and there’s no effort by the school management to renovate it despite the huge amount they collect from us.
“We’re women and as a mother, she should understand how fragile our body is. What she wants us to do is impossible and knowing that she’s a professor in the medical field makes it more painful.”
When contacted for her reaction, Professor Udoh who was very hostile to our correspondent, said “we have already solved that, we just finished meeting with the DVC, students have no reason to take matters of this place outside.”
When our correspondent probed further for her to tell her side of the story, in her rude manner, she continued “No! you don’t need to know what happened, we’ve finished, it’s internal something and there’s nothing you need to know and I’m in a meeting with the DVC.”
JOURNALIST101 gathered that the policy of not using Pee bucket isn’t applicable to the hostels in the parent campus of the University in Nsukka.
