A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Buba Galadima, has accused the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mahmood Yakubu of committing more grievous crimes than the suspended Central Bank governor, Godwin Emefiele.
As a result, Galadima said that Yakubu deserved to be fired as the electoral body’s chairman by President Bola Tinubu, stating that Yakubu reportedly plotted with some politicians to subvert Nigerians’ will during the previous presidential election.
Galadima made this call to Tinubu while speaking with Channels Television on Tuesday, insisting that what Yakubu did was more than what the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, did before he was sacked.
He was quoted by Channel TV as saying: “The INEC chairman must go, what he did is not up to what Godwin Emefiele did.
“He colluded with some people to subvert the will of Nigerians. He committed the greatest crime anybody will commit.”
Yakubu was accused of tainting the presidential election in 2023.
The presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar are in the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC challenging the outcome of the February 25th poll.
