Enugu Young Political Leaders have adviced mischief makers to desist from spreading fake news that is capable of misleading the public and putting the State into political turmoil in their futile efforts to tarnish the image of the immediate past Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

The Young Political Leaders, a prominent group of young politicians in Enugu State, were reacting to a publication in some fictitious online platform with the caption “Gburugburu, LG Chairmen sweat as Mbah orders them to account for squandered 5.1 billion special funds.”

According to the group, publications such as this isn’t good for the political stability of the state. They urged the incumbent Governor, Barr. Peter Mbah, to ignore the purveyors of the fake news as they’re convinced he’s not looking back in his drive to achieve the disruptive innovation agenda promised to Ndi Enugu.

The group maintained that with what the facts available to them, the allegation of misappropriation of N5.1 billion special funds, are unfounded and lack any substantial evidence.

“These allegations appear to be a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation and legacy of a governor who served the state with utmost dedication and transparency.

“Also, the insinuation that Governor Ugwuanyi ordered the Chairmen to write cheques in the name of the newly established State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Igbo Eno, Udenu Local Government Area, is entirely false and laughable. Such accusations are baseless and lack any credible evidence.

“The replacement of Hon. Solomon Onah as Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has no connection to the alleged misappropriation of funds. Hon. Solomon Onah had served out his tenure as ALGON Chairman, hence the election of Hon. Sydney Okey Edeh.

“The decision to appoint Hon Ejike Udeh as the new Chairman of JACC was made in accordance with the constitutional provisions governing the association, and there was no ulterior motive behind it.

“The claim that Chairman of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, exposed Governor Ugwuanyi’s alleged wrongdoing is entirely false and lacks any substantiation. These allegations only serve to create unnecessary tension and sow the seed of discord among political leaders in the state.

“We urge the public to exercise caution and refrain from spreading unverified information that can cause harm to the reputation of individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving the state. Fake news is dangerous and should be shunned completely.

“We remain committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in Enugu State,” they said.
