Gunmen on Monday, shot and killed the traditional ruler of Nguru in Aboh Mbaise local government area of Imo state, Eze James Nnamdi.
The traditional ruler popularly known as Eze Mmirioma, was shot by unknown gunmen, who invaded his palace while he was playing host to a guest at about 3pm.
He later gave up the ghost at Ndubuisi Hospital while his guest who was also shot is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
The Public Relations Officer Imo State Police Command Mr. Henry Okoye said the Command was saddened by the incident adding that the Commissioner of Police Mr. Muhammed Barde had ordered an investigation into the murder.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde psc(+) has condemned in totality the gruesome murder of Eze Mmirioma, a Traditional Ruler in Aboh Mbaise who died while receiving medical attention at Ndubuisi Hospital after been shot severally in his house today by gunmen and has set up a high powered investigating team to investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law,” the terse statement reads.
