Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the Director News of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, RSBC, Priestba Anthony-Nwokocha, in Port Harcourt.
The Director of Administration, RSBC, Pastor Ebi Ogolo, who confirmed the development to journalists, said Anthony-Nwokocha was kidnapped between Slaughter and the YKC area of Port Harcourt on Friday evening.
Ogolo said the director was kidnapped on her way home from work around 7pm.
He pleaded with security agencies to urgently intervene and ensure her quick and safe release.
Also confirming the incident, family sources said, “Her car broke down along that Slaughter/YKC road, she called her husband who later came with a mechanic to work on the car. It was in the presence of her husband and the mechanic that the kidnappers came and picked her up.
“They didn’t pick her husband or harm him, they just picked her and left,”
Meanwhile, Ike Wigodo, the Secretary, Nigeria Union Journalists, NUJ, has called for calm among journalists in the State as the Union has contacted CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, Commissioner of Police, on the incident and he advised the family to make a preliminary report to the nearest Police Station and that the command knew what to do.
