Rep Member, Hon Nwodo Congratulates Colleagues On Their Appointments As Standing Committee Leaders

The Member Representing Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani, Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Stainless Nwodo, has congratulated his colleagues in the green chamber that emerged as the chairmen and vice of the various committees.

The Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas unveiled the names of the committees’ chairpersons and their deputies on the floor of the house on Thursday.

The 134 committees is in line with house standing rules, which provide for the establishment of standing committees to carry out the oversight function on government agencies and programs and address specific issues of national importance.

In his congratulatory message, Hon. Nwodo reminded his colleagues that “the dice is cast and it’s time to roll the sleeves and face our jobs.”

He appealed to those that might feel disenchanted with the list to understand that power comes from God, while reminding them that they’re elected to serve their constituents and the country.

“It’s natural as humans to feel disenchanted when we miss our expectations especially in terms of appointments. However, it’s worthy to note that the destiny of every man is in the hand of almighty God.

“Dear colleagues, we are elected as law makers to effectively represent our constituencies and to serve our dear country Nigeria. It’s on this note that I call on all of us to grow pass the past and face the present with a renewed vigor and zeal to deliver on our respective mandates in whichever committee(s) and capacities we found ourselves. What is paramount is service to this great nation. Delivering on our mandate is sacrosanct!”

Nwodo who was named the Vice Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Intelligence, while thanking the speaker for the opportunity, promised to contribute in building a lasting peace in his constituency.

“As the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Internal Security and Intelligence, I wish to appreciate the Speaker, Honorable TJ Abbas for the honour and confidence reposed on me in that regard.

“I can’t wait to see my beloved constituents, women and youth return to the markets and farms without fear of herdsmen attack, unknown gunmen and other security challenges facing us as a nation.

“While looking forward to a fruitful legislative year, I wish you all success and protection of the almighty God.”
