A Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Effiong Inibehe has berated President Bola Tinubu for nominating former governors and other politicians with corruption cases for ministerial position.
In a post via his twitter account on Monday, Inibehe, said the list looks liken a plan by the President to organise a carnival for “thieves”.
He added that the nominees, especially the former governors, are individuals who have corruption baggage, with many of them facing ongoing corruption cases.
His words:
“It appears Mr Tinubu has made up his mind to organise a carnival for ‘thieves’. That is the way I see it.
“If you look at most of the nominees, especially the governors, they are individuals who have corruption baggage. Many of them have ongoing corruption cases.”
The ministerial nominees include the former governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle and some other former governors and politicians who are under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other anti-graft agencies for corruption, money laundering and abuse of their offices.
