The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Alhaji Rahman Owokoniran as the new acting National Vice Chairman of the party for South-West zone.

Owokoniran a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly was until his new appointment, the Zonal Secretary of the PDP in the South-West.

His appointment is as a result of the death of the former National Vice Chairman, Soji Adagunodo.

The appointment was made at the end of the South-West PDP Zonal Executive meeting which was held in Ibadan on Saturday.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting said the appointment was “pending the election of a substantive National Vice Chairman, in accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution”.

The communique also said the South-West PDP commended the zeal and resilience of the PDP candidates who are currently seeking justice at the Election Petition Tribunals over their stolen mandates.

The party reiterated its commitment to leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice.

The communique added that the South-West PDP empathises with the Nigerian people and strongly condemns the directionless approach of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government regarding the removal of fuel subsidy, without any plans or measures in place to cushion the effects
