The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Enugu State chapter, on Wednesday, 16th August, 2023, elected new executives that will pilot the affairs of the institute for the next three years.

After the election which was characterised my high-powered dialogue that’s expected of an institute like ICMC, Barr. Iyida David Ikechukwu emerged the chairman, Echesi Chukwuemeka was elected as the Vice Chairman. Barr. Nnenna Nwomeh is the Secretary while Barr. Chidinma Okwuowulu, Nze Gabriel Ndu and ACP Matthew Eze are the new Financial Secretary, Welfare Secretary and Publicity Secretary respectively.

Speaking on the electoral process, the presidential Committee led by Dr. Uchenna Cyril Anioke, Vice President, Communications and strategy acknowledged the commitment and dedication of the members to the growth of the institute.

Dr. Anioke emphasised that “consensus building is a key approach of the institute to their elections because it promotes dialogue which is the least expensive, yet very effective means of achieving faster result.”

He thanked the electoral committee for the manner in which they handled the entire process.

In his remarks, the immediate-past chairman, ICMC, Enugu branch, Dr. Eric Oluedo said he’s happy he’s handing over to a “very courageous and ambitious man with the capacity to transform his vision into reality.”

He expressed confidence that the new administration will take the institute to a greater height.

The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executives was conducted by Barr. Margaret Nwagbo, former Deputy President of ICMC.

In his speech, the new Chairman, Barr. Iyida said they’re “looking at adding value to what has been in existence (which is a framework that has been developed over time) and compliment where necessary.”

On his plan for the institute, the Chairman said they will take the message of mediation to all nooks and crannies of Enugu State “for the people to understand that it’s an alternative means of dispute resolution and to achieve this, we need to get a lot of interested members on board.”

He also promised to give the institute a befitting corporate office while assuring them of a transparent and teamwork oriented administration.
