Amidst the economic hardship and bitting hunger occasioned by the subsidy removal, the governor of Abia, Dr. Alex Otti has announced the disengagement of some civil servants in the state.

JOURNALIST101 recalls that this is coming after the Governor according to the commissioner for information, sacked 7,000 workers in the state while over 300 families will be affected by this new directive.

In a letter by the Head of Service, Lady Joy I. Maduka, those affected are all staff employed into the Abia State Public Service from December, 2022 till date by the previous administration.

Lady Maduka said the move is in sync with “the on-going reorganization in the Abia State Public Service and in line with the provision of the Abia State Public Service Rules nos 02801 and 02803.”

“However, any further directive(s) of His Excellency on this matter shall be communicated in due course.

“Please take appropriate steps to implement immediately and according to His Excellency’s directive.”
