Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah
… Extends hands of fellowship to opposition
… Restates commitment to campaign promises

Dr. Peter Mbah has described the ruling of Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal as a victory for ndi Enugu.

JOURNALIST101 had reported that the tribunal affirmed Mbah’s victory at the March 18 election, dismissing the petitions of Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party and Chris Agu of the Peoples Redemption Party.

In his reaction at Lion Building Enugu shortly after the verdict, Mbah said “this is a victory for democracy. It is a victory for massive development for Ndi Enugu, a victory for exponential growth and development and a victory for our determination to restore water in all your homes in the next 68 days.

“We’re thankful to God because we know it would not have been possible without God.”

He also applauded the tribunal for doing justice on the petitions brought before them and “painstakingly coming out with a judgement that resonates with the people of Enugu State. A judgment that’s fair and just. Indeed, this has reaffirmed our belief in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.

Governor Mbah also seized the opportunity to call on his opponents to join hands with him to “build the Enugu of our dream because at the end of the day, Enugu is greater than all of us. We’ve put ourselves forward to serve Ndi Enugu. So, If the motivation is service, its now time for us to come together,” while urging his supporters to be “magnanimous in victory.”

He also thanked the electorates for not only believing in him, but casted their votes for him and “above all, stood by us all the step of the way. I want to assure them that I’m going to work for them with every fibre of my being. I stand by the campaign promise I made as espoused in our statement of purpose. I also stand on the citizens charter that I executed on my first day in office.

“Ndi Enugu should hold me accountable, I’ll not let them down.”
