The Government of Enugu state has frowned at the springing up of illegal night clubs and other relaxation points that play loud music at residential areas in the state.

The Chairman of Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA) Rt. Hon. Uche Anya who vowed to stop the menace constituted by these relaxation spots, said “no amount of blackmail will work because some people wants to make the residential life of Enugu miserable.”

Anya, while reiterating the commitment of the state government to support night life, maintained that “they want people to go back in their residential neigbourhood and have a good night sleep.”

He said that the loud music which sometimes start as early as 5Pm affects but the young and old and stressed that for such businesses to exist, these night clubs must adopt modern technologies that traps the noise within their vicinity.

“You look through your window, you are seeing a nude club with an open-air live band it cannot happen and when we tell them you cannot do this we get phone calls from everybody I’m sure they have access to Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin we will also get phone call.

The ECTDA Boss maintained that “Enugu will not accommodate that nonsense. We welcome nightlife and we will do everything to promote night life but the nightclubs must embrace the culture of acoustics.

“We will support the night clubs but they must adopt acoustic technology. You cannot make your blood money by destroying our children and the society you cannot!

“They start this thing from 5 p.m. and they never stop until 3 a.m. That has a negative impact on the mental health of residents especially children and retired people.

“If they embrace acoustic technology, nobody will know, nobody will bother them provided they do not constitute a nuisance by way of parking and parking carelessly in residential neighborhoods.

“The current leadership of Capital Territory will ensure that all night clubs, especially those of them in residential neighborhoods embrace acoustic technology, that way, we will support them, anything short of that we will not allow it,” he concluded
