The network center of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Sokoto has been razed by fire.

In a series of videos shared by NTA via its verified X account on Sunday, a thick smoke was seen on the building as few men tried to put off the fire on the rooftop.

Many offices have been destroyed by the inferno as there was no fire fighting unit on sight.

It was learnt that the fire destroyed parts of the operational building of the national television station.

The authority in a post via its X handle on Sunday comfirmed the fire outbreak which lasted for hours before it was put out.

“The fire that gutted parts of operational building of NTA Sokoto network centre has been put out by the combined efforts of staff and intervention of fire fighters.

“The inferno which lasted for more than three hours is now under control and has not affected the studio, equipment and other sensitive operational areas,” the post read in part.

Preliminary investigation by engineers reportedly revealed that fire might have been as a result of high electricity voltage.

“The OB Van, equipment and office furniture have also been saved from the inferno,” it added
