Daughter of late Nigerian military dictator, Gumsu Sani Abacha has divorced her husband who’s also the Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni.
She revealed her divorce while replying to a commenter who called her “First Lady” on her X handle @G_sparking on Sunday.
Gumsu had shared her picture with a two-word caption, “Emancipation… Liberation” on Sunday, which drew hundreds of comments, reposts and likes.
According to Daily Nigerian, an inside source confirmed that the marriage ended “some months ago”.
On April 14, 2021, Mr Buni got married to 45-year-old Gumsu Abacha, and paid 24 gold coins as dowry.
The marriage ceremony took place at the Abuja residence of her elder brother, Mohammed Abacha, with the then Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Hameed Ali; former National Commissioner, Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Bashir Garba-Lado; Kano-based Islamic cleric, Aminu Daurawa; Katsina State governorship candidate in 2023 elections, Yakubu Lado-DanMarke, and many others.
Gumsu was previously married to a Cameroonian multi-billionaire, Bayero Mohamadou, but the 20-year-old marriage crashed in 2020.
