There’s no leadership change in Enugu State House of Assembly, JOURNALIST101 reports.
There has been a media report earlier today that the member representing Uzouwani Constituency, Hon Chukwuma Ekwueme has emerged as the Chief Whip of the House.
The report said Ekwueme who is the minority Whip emerged the chief following the sack of some Labour Party Lawmakers by the court of Appeal.
However, an inquiry by our correspondent revealed that the leadership of House hasn’t been altered and Hon Ejike Eze remains the Chief Whip of the House.
“There’s no Leadership change in the House yet,” a Lawmaker who doesn’t want his name in print told our correspondent.
“As you may already know, there’s a change in the number PDP and Labour Party have in the house but no change in any of the positions in the House is known to me and I am not aware of any.”
Journalist101 reports that the PDP has 12 members in the house andLabour Party has 11 while one is awaiting a rerun as ordered by the court of Appeal.
The Rerun in some polling units is for Enugu South Urban between Sam Ngene of the PDP and Bright Ngene of the Labour Party. Currently, the Labour Party Candidate is leading with over 3,000 votes while the number of registered voters in the affected polling units is roughly over 4,000.
The outcome of the Rerun election will determine if the PDP will take have outright majority or both parties will have equal number of Lawmakers.
