The Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA said it will commence the implementation of the zero noise pollution policy it reached with proprietors and operators of all night clubs, lounges, open air live bands, bars, Television viewing centers in all residential neighborhoods in the state capital.
Journalist101 recalls that on December 3rd, ECTDA met with the owners and managers of relaxation spots and the state capital. During the meeting they agreed that any night club operating within the residential areas must embrace acoustic technology and ensure that their customers don’t block the road for the residents.
They also agreed to stick to their approved plans and that there will be no open-air live band and viewing centres in residential areas. Also, any open bar operating in residential areas must play their music in a very reduced volume.”
In the light of the above agreements, the agency in a public announcement signed by her chairman, Rt. Hon. Uche Anya and made available to Journalist101 on Monday, said any business centre in violation of the above agreements will be sealed
The announcement reads:
“The Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority hereby reminds Proprietors and Operators of all night clubs, lounges, open air live bands, bars, Television viewing centers in all residential neighborhoods of Enugu Municipality that the implementation and enforcement of the mutually agreed zero noise pollution control policy commences at midnight of Friday, the 15th day of December, 2023.
“Businesses in violation of this policy shall be closed down and shall remain sealed until they satisfy the ECTDA that they are fully acoustics technology compliant and pay appropriate contravention penalties in addition to furnishing ECTDA with Environmental Impact Assessment Report and attending public hearings with the residents of such residential neighborhoods.
“ECTDA wishes Ndi Enugu Municipality a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.”
