The All Progressives Congress, APC in Ebonyi State has elected Prof. Anthony Ani, as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Ebonyi South senatorial by-election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has scheduled February 3, 2024 for the poll to replace the vacant seat, after Dave Umahi was appointed a Federal Minister.

Anthony Ani, a professor of Agricultural Extension at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) polled 281 of the 285 delegates votes, with 4 votes declared invalid.

The APC Ebonyi South Senatorial District primary election commenced at about 12 noon with elected delegates from the five Local Government Areas that make up the zone queuing for accreditation and voting.

The Returning Officer, Dr. Akn Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa while declaring the winner of the election, describes the process as peaceful and orderly.

The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, represented by his deputy, Patricia Obila and the chairman of the APC in the State, Stanley Emegha, commended the delegates for the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

The APC Ebonyi South Senatorial candidate, Prof. Anthony Ani, assures the people that he would bring quality representation if given the mandate.
