The imbroglio that nearly engulfed the Mburubu community, an agrarian locality in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, has been put to rest as High Chief Linus Igbudu, a Chartered Administrator and Accountant is now the traditional ruler designate, 2 years after the demise of the last ruler.

The newly elected monarch, Igwe Igbudu, MBA holder in Financial Management, was unanimously elected by delegates from the seven villages that make up the community.

Born in the 70’s to the family of Dr. & Mrs. Joseph Igbudu of Uhuegbe Village, the traditional ruler designate is the President Association of Enugu State Development Unions (AESDU), Lagos, – the umbrella body uniting all Town Unions and autonomous communities in Lagos and environs.

Igwe Igbudu, a Rotarian and Ozo title holder in Mburubu Kingdom is the CEO of Activelinks Brokers Ltd and serves on the board of some companies.

Presenting the Igwe designate to the mammoth crowd gathered that the Amagunze headquarter of the Nkanu East, the President-General of Mburubu Town Union (MTU), Chief Emmanuel Edeh, said while the community is concluding the observation of two-year mourning period for the late traditional ruler, His Majesty Igwe E.M.O. Ezeh, it is only natural that the community scouts for a new king to be in custody of the traditions and customs of Mburubu ancient kingdom.

The President-General who said that the Igweship position rotates amongst the seven villages in Mburubu, noted that Umudara village was the first to produce the traditional ruler of the town and now it is the turn of Ihuegbe village to fill the vacancy.

The PG noted that they had to rely heavily on Constitution of the town regarding the enthronement of a traditional ruler, adding that any other self-enthroned Igwe-Elect never originated from the community but fronted by few detractors poised to disunite the community.

“The community has keenly deliberated on the gross misconduct, act of sabotage, disloyalty and attempted desecration of the traditional stool of Mbuburu kingdom by some unscrupulous elements imposing an Igwe”, he said.

“We hereby dissociate our entire community from the actions of Jerry Patrick Onukaibe who has strangely been conducting himself as Igwe-Elect to the disapproval of our people, apparently to sabotage State Government efforts in maintaining peace in every community in the State.”

In a letter conveying the election of the traditional ruler to the State Government, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu East LGA, Hon. Okechukwu Sydney Edeh, said, in line with the law for further action, the council formally forwarded the name of the Igwe-elect to the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government,Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Enugu State.

The letter reads:
