The president of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday, presided over the swearing-in of three new senators, filling previously vacant seats in the upper legislative chamber.
The newly sworn-in senators are Prince Pam Mwadkon (Action Democratic Party, Plateau North), Professor Anthony Ani (All Progressives Congress, Ebonyi South), and Mustapha Musa (All Progressives Congress, Yobe East).
The oath of office was administered by the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze, at about 11:41 am. Following the ceremony, the senators were escorted to their designated seats within the chamber.
The three new Senators emerged after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted bye-elections on February 3rd, 2024, to fill vacancies created by the resignation or sack of previously elected lawmakers.
It will be recalled that Senators Dave Umahi from Ebonyi State and Mustapha Musa, Yobe state were appointed as ministers by the President while the Plateau North Senatorial district zone seat became vacant after the court of Appeal sacked the PDP candidate.
