A Group under the auspices of Urhobo community in Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, on Wednesday, 14th February, 2024, paid a courtesy visit to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Delta State Dr. Duke Okoro.
The visit the group said presents an opportunity to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore avenues for partnership and to foster inter-institutional collaboration and promote cultural exchange
The Urhobo delegation, led by Prof . Ezekiel Agbalagba,former Dean of students affairs now currently Dean of college of science of the Urhobo Group in Federal University of petroleum resources (FUPRE) was warmly received by Dr. Okoro, along with key members of the institution’s management team, which includes the Registrar Mrs Christine Aluyi and the Librarian Dr. Edwin Achugbue.
During the meeting, discussions centered on educational initiatives to community development projects.
Expressing his gratitude for the visit, Dr. Duke Okoro highlighted the importance of collaboration between academic institutions and local communities in driving socio-economic development. He emphasized the polytechnic’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships that benefit both students and the broader community.
In response, Prof.Agbalagba commended Federal Polytechnic Orogun for its dedication to excellence in education and its contributions to the development of Delta State. He expressed his group’s willingness to support the polytechnic’s initiatives and explore avenues for collaboration in areas such as skills development, cultural exchange programs, and community outreach projects.
The visit also provided an opportunity for cultural exchange, with members of the Urhobo delegation sharing insights into Urhobo traditions, history, and cultural heritage. This exchange not only fostered mutual understanding but also served to enrich the cultural diversity within the polytechnic community.
