Residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday hit the street to protest the skyrocketing price of food and the state of the economy.

According to The PUNCH, the protesters gathered around the Mokola area in the state wielding placards with various inscriptions such as ‘End food hike and inflation,’ ‘The poor are starving,’ ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises,’ and ‘No More Emilokan or Elo Fokanbale’ and among others.

 

They were also chanting songs to show their grievances over the unbearable cost of food items in the country while calling on the leaders to stop the suffering.

Armed policemen were seen at the protest scene.
